AndyJohnstonAssociates sponsored a walking football team made up of players from Humberside’s Cottingham Rangers and Hessle Sporting Club. The team competed in the over 60’s Walking Football EuroCopa in Portugal and did very well. Reaching the semi-finals of the competition, the team narrowly lost to a team representing Benfica FC.
Captain Steve Wilkes said ‘’This was a brilliant experience supporting well-being, mental health, camaraderie and friendship as well as physical exercise, bringing men and women together from all over Europe for a few days’ competition in the sun. We are all very grateful for Andy’s generous support and sponsorship and his participation in some of the games’’.
Andy stated ‘’I was surprised how competitive walking football is and how everyone was! We exchanged a shirt with the Benfica FC team after the game and received a shirt and a club pendent in return, which we auctioned with some other tournament memorabilia for a Prostate cancer charity on our final night’’.
